About Your Visit
Appointment Instructions
Scheduling is by appointment only. Appointments can be made Monday through Friday between 9 am and 4 pm. The office is closed on weekends and holidays. On occasion, your neurosurgeon must attend to a hospital emergency, causing them to be late for an appointment. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. If a delay is anticipated, we will inform you immediately, keep you apprised of the doctor’s arrival time, and if necessary, make all attempts to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible.

Your Examination
After arriving 15 minutes early and checking in with the receptionist, you will be given an iPad to input patient information. Upon completion, you will be escorted to an exam room. For your convenience, you can also fill out your medical history and complete a patient questionnaire prior to arrival using our online patient portal. This step will expedite your office visit.
A physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner, in conjunction with one of our physicians, may examine you, review medical history and address your current concern.
Prescriptions
Your physician will not provide narcotic medication prescriptions unless you have recently undergone surgery or are scheduled for surgery in the near future. All other narcotic prescriptions must be filled by your primary care or pain management physician. Any prescriptions and authorizations for renewal should be requested during regular business hours when your records are available. We will not manage after-hours prescription requests until the office reopens.
Telephone Calls
Patients are encouraged to call 215.741.3141 in PA or 609.921.9001 in NJ with routine questions about medical concerns or prescription medications. After-hours emergencies will be referred to our on-call doctor.
Test results will be available one to two weeks after the test is conducted. For this reason, please wait at least one week before calling the office for results. If you were involved in an auto accident, the length of time might vary from one to six weeks, based on authorization.
Forms for Motor Vehicle Accident
If you are seeing a PBSSM neurosurgeon or sports medicine doctor to discuss injuries due to a motor vehicle accident, please download the appropriate form below and bring it to your appointment.

Insurance & Payment Information
Although health insurance is designed to help you meet the cost of medical services, it seldom covers 100% of the cost. The primary responsibility for payment, therefore, rests with you. Your policy is a contract between you and your insurance company, not between PBSSM and your insurance company. We will provide you with necessary claim information and assist you whenever possible.
Some insurance providers pay fixed allowances for certain procedures, while others cover a percentage of the fee. It is your responsibility to cover deductibles, co-insurance and other balances not paid by your insurance carrier. It is also your responsibility to pay required copays at the beginning of each office visit.
Before You Leave
Our neurosurgeons and clinicians will make every effort to diagnose your concern and provide appropriate treatment interventions. We strive to answer four essential questions before you leave our office:
What is wrong?
What should be done about it?
What caused it?
How long will it take to get better?
Our doctors and staff will make every effort to address your concerns and additional questions, as well.
